As a Financial Planner, Stephen provides clients with tailored financial planning and investment management advice. He takes the time to understand each client’s unique circumstances and priorities, ensuring his recommendations align with their individual goals and needs.

Stephen joined Henwood Court in 2022, bringing with him 10 years of experience from the Higher Education sector. He is currently working towards achieving Chartered Financial Planner status, reflecting his commitment to delivering the highest level of service and advice to his clients.

Personally

Stephen lives in Sutton Coldfield with his wife and their two young daughters.

Outside of work, he enjoys travelling and making memories with his young family. When time allows between family life and studying for his Chartered Financial Planner exams, he also enjoys watching sport and remains a long-suffering Aston Villa fan.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working with our clients is my favourite part of the job. I enjoy hearing about their varied lives, understanding what matters most to them and helping to remove their worries.

What motivates you at work?

I’m motivated by providing high quality service and advice to our clients. I enjoy helping clients understand how their finances and investments can help them live the life they want.

Who inspires you? Why?

My grandpa was always one of my biggest inspirations.

He had strong family values and a positive outlook on life. Being a father of two young children myself, I often think of these family values.

Tell us something people may be surprised to know about you...

I’m related to a Hollywood actress (although it’s quite a distant relation and I’ve never actually met them!)

What's at the top of your bucket list?

One day I’d like to travel around Canada and the US.

  • R02 – Investment Principles and Risk: Introduces key investment principles, asset classes, and risk factors. Builds understanding of how investments are matched to client needs.
  • R03 – Personal Taxation: Focuses on the UK tax system and how it applies to individuals. Equips advisers with the ability to assess clients’ tax liabilities and opportunities.
  • R04 – Pensions and Retirement Planning: Explores pension products, retirement planning strategies, and tax implications. Supports advising clients on building and accessing retirement income.
  • R05 – Financial Protection: Covers protection needs and products such as life insurance, income protection, and critical illness. Helps advisers recommend appropriate protection solutions.
  • R06 – Financial Planning Practice: A case study-based unit that applies knowledge from other modules. Tests the ability to construct and justify holistic financial planning recommendations.
  • J02 – Trusts: Explores the role and legal principles of trusts in financial planning. Covers trust types, taxation, and suitability for client objectives.
  • AF1 – Personal Tax and Trust Planning: A higher-level unit integrating personal taxation and trust knowledge. Prepares advisers to deliver comprehensive, tax-efficient financial strategies.
  • AF8 – Retirement Income Planning: A higher-level unit focused on retirement income options and strategies. Covers complex client needs, including drawdown, annuities, and tax-efficient planning.
