Summer has flown by. Since our last Court Gossip in June we have launched a brand new website, recorded our first ever podcast, taken on a team of accountants at football and started planning our next client masterclass. So there is plenty to catch up on!

We are thrilled to have launched our brand new website. It has been a long time in the making and we are really proud of the result. The new site captures who we are as a business, what we stand for and, most importantly, how we help our clients live better lives. Bringing it home

In August we swapped spreadsheets for shin pads and took on Haslehursts Chartered Accountants in a friendly game of football. It was closely fought, thoroughly good natured and, we are pleased to report, ended 3-2 to Henwood Court. A brilliant evening all round and one we would happily do again, although Haslehursts may well want a rematch.

Masterclass number two: pensions, estate planning and the 2027 inheritance tax changes

Following the success of our first session, we are running our second client masterclass on Thursday 8 October at 4pm, live online.

Nick Platt, Helen Allen and Peter Robbins will look at how pensions are expected to be treated on death from April 2027 and what that means in practice. The session covers the inheritance tax implications where pensions make up a significant part of someone’s wealth, the timing of tax free cash and withdrawal decisions, whether to draw on a pension or preserve it, and the estate planning options available including gifting. Real scenarios will be used throughout to bring it to life.
