Wellbeing Walk

We’re really lucky here to have Newhall Valley Country Park on our doorstep. So, to help to beat the January blues and make the most of our surroundings, our Culture and Training Manager Lynette Coffey organised a lunchtime team walk.

We donned our ‘suitable footwear’ and took a 25 minute walk taking in some fresh air and natural daylight as well as a break from our screens. It gave us a great opportunity to catch up as a team too! Lynette had two routes for us, one slightly more ‘off road’ than the other so we opted for the cleanest option!

It was a great idea and everyone felt better for it. This will be a monthly exercise moving forward and we look forward to the next one.

Lynette is a keen walker and will be walking 56 miles in February for the charity Refuge. We’re keen to support her and if you would like to donate too, please click on the link to her donation page: https://www.facebook.com/donate/722212926217497/

Welcome back Kitty

Over Christmas we were all given a real fright by our lovely Kitty! Katherine Woolley was really poorly after contracting Strep A, following a seemingly normal flu like illness. Kit had to spend the festive period in hospital, thanking the powers of Zoom technology once again as it allowed her to see the children open their Christmas presents.

There was real concern over the impact of the infection on Kitty’s arm but in true Kitty style she is back to work, albeit on a phased return for now until she regains the full use of her arm again. We are so glad to have her back, she really is part of the Henwood Court furniture and we all realised how we are way more than ‘just’ colleagues. Welcome back Kitty!

Belated Christmas Celebration

On Friday evening we had our belated Christmas party with everyone being so busy during December. Jason offered to don his lederhosen (which we politely declined), as we headed off to Albert Schloss in Birmingham where they offer 7 days of showtime, so it seemed like the perfect place.

We enjoyed the restaurant’s entertainment, together with smorgasboards, schnapps and bier baths which helped bring out the entertainers in the team too! A great night all round, what a fabulous team we have. Typically we chose an evening when the trains were striking but those that caught the bus enjoyed the novelty!
