Switching to a ‘Sofa Surf’
In light of the current Coronavirus situation we are moving to a ‘Sofa Surf’
On Friday 27th March 2020, we will be swapping our sheets for sofas and switching futons for floors to raise awareness of hidden homelessness.
Hidden homelessness is particularly prevalent in young people; sofa surfing or kipping on a mate’s floor with nowhere to call home.
Research by the charity Crisis indicates that about 62% of single homeless people are hidden and may not show up in official figures.
With this in mind, Yvonne and Carmen will be spending the night on the sofa (if Yvonne can remove her dog, Griff!) or the floor to experience just a fraction of what many young people feel when they have no home of their own; spending their days wondering where they will sleep their nights.
Many thanks to those that have already sponsored the girls, your support is greatly appreciated. With the events around the world continuing to evolve the support we can provide these young people is essential; not knowing what the next few weeks/months is going to bring for us is worrying enough but I’m sure for those living on the streets with no family to turn to, the uncertainty must be frightening.
Please help us spread the word and raise funds for a much needed charity and put an end to young people sleeping on the streets.
