Huge congratulations to Declan for becoming an authorised planner at Henwood Court. Having joined the Firm in the summer Declan has now received authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
In order to be authorised not only has Declan needed to meet the minimum qualification requirement but also the Firm had to prove to the FCA that Declan met the regulator’s criteria for authorisation (the fit and proper test) and can comply with the standards required to carry out their role as an authorised individual in accordance with the FCAs Statement of Principle and Codes of Practice.
What is the fit and proper test?
This wasn’t an exam Declan had to pass but instead a benchmark the FCA uses to assess whether the individual is suitable to perform a controlled function. The most important considerations when considering the individual are:
- Honesty, integrity and reputation
- Competence and capability, and
- Financial soundnes
This is Declan’s first authorised role within the financial services profession.
Well done Declan.
